14th Congressional Paul/Sinatra Primary
Cynthia Sinatra ran against incumbent Republican/Libertarian Congressman Ron Paul on a platform to bring more funding back for services.
As quoted on her campaign site "We all stood in shock as our Congressman voted against emergency federal funding to help our neighbors, friends and families that were so tragically affected by hurricanes Katrina and Rita."
14th District Republicans were obviously very happy with Paul, as he crushed Sinatra winning every county by more than 64% of the vote.

Ron Paul, running in a largely Republican district, is likely to be re-elected to Congress, where he can continue his role as one of the least effective, least relevant members. It's a shame those of us in the 14th district will continue to be represented so poorly.

I used to live in his district. I believe that he votes against big spending bills as a matter of principle. I do know that he once ran for president as a Libertarian. I'm not surprised that he did not vote for the bill, but maybe he has marginalized himself? I don't really know.

Are you kidding me? Ron Paul is my favorite member of Congress! He is the only one of principle who believes in the pursuit of economic and social liberty. He's GREAT! And most of his voters prefer his no taxes, pay for it yourself approach because right now it is working.

To the Ron Paul dissenters, I say: you should have a firm grasp on the nature and substance of our U.S. Constitution before sounding off, let alone voting.
That said, if you weren't as ignorant of the Constitution as you seem to be, you'd understand that Dr. Paul is not just against big spending, and certainly he is not irrelevant. He fervently supports the idea of LIMITED GOVERNMENT, which is the very cornerstone of our Constitution.
I don't mean to be too harsh here, I don't want to trash anyone, I really hope that more people will come to understand what the Founders intended with this document.
To the first anonymous poster: how about we just keep our money in the first place, then you won't have to moan about not having it sent back to you!?
Let the U.S. Government simply ensure that we all have our equal RIGHTS to life, liberty, and property, as was orginally intended to be it's purpose, and beyond that, we have states, counties, and cities to take care of the other specifics.
Why use one size fits all policies (at the national level) to wrap up a nation of such diversity? Different localities do things differently; should we not celebrate our differences, and leverage them to our advantage rather than attempt in vain to suppress and ignore them?
Study the Constitution; read the federalist papers; read newspaper articles of the time circa ratification; you will understand, whether you agree or not, the spirit of our Constitution, and you will know that Ron Paul votes in favor of that most supreme of contracts between government and its citizens.
Ron Paul is the greatest legislator of our lifetime, and I am very proud to be able to vote for him in this coming election.
