Muslim Attacked at Baptist Baylor University NEW
The Council of American-Islamic relations is angry:
This is a tragic story, and I hope her attacker is caught.
I can't understand why Muslims pick to attend Baylor...as it is a Baptist school...a VERY Baptist school...for Christians....
...but there is no excuse for this kind of attack.

Baylor issued this on the matter.
Apparently the attack occured by Draper Hall, towards the South End of campus. The FBI Is now involved.
The coed was attacked from behind Saturday evening as she walked to her dorm
from the Student Union Building.
She told News Ten that her attacker was
a white male who appeared to be in his 30s. She said she didn’t think the man
was a Baylor student.
She said the man grabbed her headscarf and threw her to
the ground, yelling profane ethnic and anti-Muslim slurs while threatening to
kill her if she made any noise.
The man pinned her to the ground, she said,
and dug his nails into her chest until she screamed.
When she screamed, she
said the man slapped her in the face and kicked her twice in the ribs before he
fled.
This is a tragic story, and I hope her attacker is caught.

Yeah, but it is also a great school. It's like asking 'Why would someone who isn't Catholic attend Notre Dame?" Only Baylor isn't as good as Notre Dame and we're talking about a Muslim student attending seminary for credit instead of a Lutheran at mass.

being muslim and going to a school that requires chapel is stupid
parents pay 30 thousand dollars a year for their students to attend a baptist school with christian values
not a school filled with muslims

I am surprised that with the ammount of campus help stops, and large number of people at the school that this was not seen..or heard.
Especially if she was screaming as the papers report.
I wonder where on campus this occured exactly.

anonymous, it really is kinda the same thing. How many wars have been fought because one group was Protestant and another Catholic. How many people were killed because they were Catholic during the Reformation in England? Hell, how many people have been killed because of the differences between Greek Orthodox Catholicism and Roman Catholicicism.
I'm really surprised someone would compare Baylor to an Iranian madras, too. Baylor, for all its faults and prejudice against certain groups, isn't that extreme. I mean, they allow dancing now...
I know a few Baylor students who are Catholic. The sit in the back and text people during chapel and they don't take any of the religious stuff the University espouses seriously. I've also known a few gay students who have gone to Baylor. It's a good undergrad school with some great graduate programs. I'm sure that's why she wanted to go here.
If someone's parents ar sending them to Baylor just for the religion, then they are highly mistaken about what college is for anyway. It's all about that piece of paper you get at the end of the line.

I attend Baylor and the attack occured near Draper Academic Building, which is a pretty open area and main focus in the center area of campus. this did not happen just ont he edge of campus and i am shocked that noone saw it happen since it happened at a time of day when many students mill about. this is a shocking event.
